Olivia Nuzzi, a political reporter for New York Magazine, has been suspended after admitting that her communications with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. became personal. The 31-year-old journalist faced scrutiny following claims that she "puffed up" Kennedy, a former presidential candidate, in her reporting.

Sources confirmed that Nuzzi's relationship with the 70-year-old Kennedy, who is married to actress Cheryl Hines, started earlier this year, shortly after she wrote a lengthy profile on him in November 2023. Nuzzi stated that the nature of her communications was "not physical," while Kennedy claimed they met only once, during a hike at his mansion in Brentwood, California.

Nuzzi, recognized for her work with prominent outlets like the Washington Post and Politico, faced backlash after her profile highlighted Kennedy’s political persona. Critics argue that she may have given him favorable coverage prior to his recent endorsement of Donald Trump.

In her statement, Nuzzi acknowledged that the relationship should have been disclosed to avoid any appearance of conflict and expressed regret for not doing so sooner. The fallout comes as Nuzzi recently ended her engagement to fellow Politico reporter Ryan Lizza. Kennedy has admitted to "numerous infidelities" in his past relationships, citing personal struggles.
