Flight Diverted After Passenger Discovers Live Mouse, Passengers Remain Calm
A Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) flight from Oslo to Malaga made an unexpected emergency landing in Copenhagen on Wednesday after a live mouse emerged from a passenger's meal. The airline's procedures kicked in immediately, as the furry intruder posed a potential safety hazard.
Oystein Schmidt, a spokesperson for SAS, explained that the diversion was necessary to address the situation safely. “This is something that happens extremely rarely,” he noted, assuring that the airline has protocols for such incidents, including reviews with food suppliers to prevent future occurrences.
Passengers were transferred to a different aircraft for the remainder of their journey to Malaga. One traveler, Jarle Borrestad, shared his experience, describing the atmosphere as calm despite the unusual event. He humorously noted that he had to cover his legs with his socks to avoid any unexpected encounters with the mouse.
While the diversion added only a few hours to the travel schedule, it marks the second rodent-related incident in a week, following a train service disruption in southern England due to squirrels boarding a carriage.
